Plenty of warmth in the Smith Center in Washington, DC Thursday night as George Washington pulled away to claim an 80-62 win over struggling VCU.
VCU is 18-7 overall, but now just 6-6 in the Atlantic 10. Robyn Parks was held under her season average but still managed her 9th double-double of the campaign with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Keira Robinson scored 12.
The Colonials' key was a massive 25-2 run midway through the first half that built a 35-21 edge. The Rams never threatened again. Megan Nipe led GW with 19 points while Jonquel Jones ripped down 17 rebounds.
George Washington is now tied for fourth in the A-10 at 8-4, while VCU holds on to 8th place, a half-game ahead of cross-town rival Richmond.
