Dayton’s Jenna Burdette Earns A-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors
Cardaño-Hillary, Luma Share A-10 Rookie of the Week Honors
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Dayton’s Jenna Burdette was selected as the GEICO Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while George Mason’s Nicole Cardano-Hillary and George Washington’s Neila Luma were chosen as the league’s Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, were for games played Feb. 12-18.
Burdette, a senior from Coolville, Ohio, led the Flyers to a win over Fordham, clinching at least a share of the A-10 Regular Season Championship. With 27 points and eight assists on Senior Day, Burdette helped Dayton win its 15th straight game while shooting 10-of-19 (.526) from the field, 4-of-8 (.500) from three-point range, and 3-of-3 (1.000) from the free throw line.
Cardaño-Hillary, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in a pair of wins last week. Against VCU, she scored 19 points on 8-of-14 (.571) shooting with six rebounds and three steals. She followed that performance with 19 points, 17 of which came in the second half, in a 78-63 victory over St. Bonaventure. She has scored in double-figures in all 28 games this season and is currently third in league in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game.
Luma, a freshman from Macungie, Pa. averaged a double-double with 11.0 points and 12.5 rebounds on 9-of-15 (.600) shooting from the field. She recorded 8 points and 11 rebounds in a mid-week win over Massachusetts, followed by 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting in a road win over Saint Louis.
Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll
Davidson’s Mackenzie Latt recorded her seventh double-double of the year at UMass, while moving into third all-time in scoring with 1,533 points…Katie Turner shot 47.4 percent from beyond the arc on 9-of-19-shooting for the Wildcats…Duquesne’s Chassidy Omogrosso scored 26 points on a career-high 10 field goals in their win against Saint Louis…Mei-Lyn Bautista made a career-high five three pointers to finish with 15 points for George Washington in their win of Massachusetts...George Mason’s Natalie Butler extended her consecutive double-double streak to 27 games after recording 24 points and 23 rebounds a win over St. Bonaventure…Maggie Mulligan averaged a double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) this week for Massachusetts…Richmond’s Micae la Parson scored 24 points in a win on the road at St. Bonaventure and is the only player in the A-10 that ranks inside the top 20 in points per game, assists, steals, and rebounds…Alex Parson scored a combined 20 points in Richmond’s 2-0 week…Saint Joseph’s Chelsea Woods averaged 17 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists for the Hawks…VCU’s Tera Reed recorded her fourth double-double of the season, grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds to go along with 12 points in the Rams’ close loss to Richmond.
