Opening Day of 2015-16 Season!
George Washington becomes the hunted, Dayton looks to reload, while Saint Louis looks to take it to the next level, while local teams VCU and Richmond look for top-tier finishes as the Atlantic 10 Conference's 40th Anniversary season of women's basketball beings non-conference play Friday!
Two morning tip-offs begin the season as Beth O'Boyle begins her second season at the Siegel Center, leading the VCU Rams into battle against Coppin State at 11am, while, at the same time, Dayton, coming off their run to the Elite Eight in last year's NCAA Tournament, opens play against Yale.
VCU returns nearly every significant contributor from last year's squad, with the advantage of a full off-season under Boyle's tutelage. The Flyers will begin life without former Atlantic 10 Player of The Year Andrea Hoover and First Team All-Conference forward Ally Malott, but do return First Team Preseason All-Conference guard Amber Deane, guard Kelley Austria, and a host of inside players.
At 3pm at the Robins Center, Michael Shaffer begins his 12th season at the helm of the Spiders, who return strong perimeter play to begin their season with a 3pm home date with in-state rival Old Dominion.
Another in-state matchup features a revamped George Mason squad, starting their third season under head coach Nyla Milleson, and featuring First Team Preseason All-Conference shooting sensation Taylor Brown, traveling over I-66 and I-81 to face Radford. Rhode Island seeks to improve on their breakout season of a year ago, but faces a tough first opponent hosting Syracuse of the ACC.
Defending regular season and tournament champion George Washington begins their season on Saturday.

MEDIA DAY: Countdown to 2016 Tournament in RVA Underway....
All fourteen head coaches, the league commissioner, Richmond Coliseum officials, and members of the media all gathered Wednesday as the Atlantic 10 began its 40th anniversary celebration for women's basketball with Media Day at the Richmond Downtown Marriott.
Along with the opportunity to preview the 2015-16 season, the league announced its preseason poll, as defending regular season and tournament champion George Washington, who return four starters, received twelve of fourteen first place votes to sit atop the survey.
Perennial league power Dayton, who advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual champion Connecticut, received the other two first place votes and was voted second overall. The Flyers must replace two players that were drafted last spring by the WNBA: Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott.
Duquesne, despite having seven freshmen on their roster, placed third, followed by 2014 tournament champion Fordham and the rising Billikens of Saint Louis, the only team to beat George Washington last year in conference play.
Local teams Richmond and VCU were voted sixth and tenth respectively.

MEN'S HOOPS: Dayton Tops Preseason Poll
The Dayton Flyers are the pick to win the 2015-16 Atlantic 10 men's basketball title in a preseason poll released in conjunction with Media Day held Tuesday in Brooklyn, New York, site of the men's tournament in March.
The poll, voted on by the league's coaches and select members of the media, gave the Flyers twelve first-place votes, 352 points overall, for the top spot. Rhode Island was just behind in second with 347 points.

2015-16 Conference Schedule Released.....
VCU travels to Richmond Sunday January 24th for a nationally televised game before the Spiders head to the Siegel Center for a Valentine's Day showdown, as the 2015-16 Atlantic 10 women's basketball conference schedule was released Thursday.
The two top teams of a year ago, conference tournament champion George Washington, and second place Dayton, who advanced all the way to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion Connecticut, will square off Sunday January 10th in Dayton on CBS Sports Network. The January 24th VCU at Richmond game will be on NBCSN.

Richmond Spiders Release Non-Conference Schedule....
The 2015-16 Atlantic 10 women's basketball season is just around the corner! The Richmond Spiders on Thursday announced the non-conference portion of their schedule, which includes two holiday tournaments and home showdowns with state rivals, including an opening night tilt with Old Dominion.
The Spiders depart on Monday for a ten-day trip to Europe, where they will visit France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

2015-16 Conference Regular Season Pairings Announced
The Road to RVA for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Tournament took a step closer today when the conference announced its regular season pairings for each team.
Highlights include Richmond having a home and home series with defending tournament champion George Washington as well as the usual two-game series with crosstown rival VCU.
As for the Rams, they will hold home and home series with both Davidson and in-state rival George Mason.
The Rams will also host Duquesne, Fordham, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's and Saint Louis, avoiding a trip to the western most outpost in the Atlantic 10. VCU must travel, though, to both George Washington and perennial power Dayton, who made it all the way to the Elite Eight in March's NCAA Tournament and saw two players, Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott, drafted into the WNBA.
